Select Bushing Material
- Urethane: Intended for street use. These bushings will make your Mustang far more responsive to steering inputs because of reduced deflection, while keeping it quiet and comfortable.
- Delrin: Intended for racing. These bushings have zero deflection and a longer life expectancy in racing applications than urethane. Expect an increase in ride harshness and noise transmission compared to urethane.
Stock k-member Note
Only urethane bushings should be used because stock k-members do not have a flat surface at the bushing mounts. Urethane easily deflects to accommodate the surface irregularities, while Delrin is too hard to deflect and will cause significant fitment problems.
Select the Ball Joint Offset
Choose one of the 3 available offsets. Be sure you are familiar with the effects of your choice; read the descriptions of each. If you have questions, contact us.
- Reduces unsprung weight.
- Reduces overall weight by nearly 40 lbs. with the combination of MM Control arms, MM K-member, and MM Coil-over Conversion Kit.
- Improves steering response and controls dynamic alignment better.
- Increases tire clearance, allowing a smaller turning radius.
- Improves performance and ride quality by using low-friction ball joints instead of stock Fox ball joints.
- Increases rigidity and equalizes the loads into the K-member by being a true "A" arm design.
- Will plastically deform in a severe accident rather than fracture, absorbing more energy.
- 3 versions available to meet your fitment requirements and performance goals.
- Light-weight tubular construction.
- Pivot bushings made of either urethane or Delrin; your choice.
- Placement of rearward control arm tube increases tire clearance.
- Assembled with the latest-version OEM low-friction ball joint, with an expected lifespan of over 200,000 miles.
- True "A" arm design provides greater rigidity than the standard "V" arms.
- Gussets in critical areas prevent fracturing in a severe accident, instead aiding plastic deformation to absorb energy.
- 3 different versions allow placing the tire in the optimum fore/aft location.
Fits
- Stock 1979-1993 Mustang K-members (some k-members require minor modification)
- Stock 1994-2004 Mustang K-members
- Most aftermarket K-members for 1979-2004 Mustangs
- Stock 1983-1988 Thunderbird K-members
- Some k-members may require modification.
Stock k-member Note
Only urethane bushings should be used because stock k-members do not have a flat surface at the bushing mounts. Urethane easily deflects to accommodate the surface irregularities, while Delrin is too hard to deflect and will cause significant fitment problems.
Required modification to some stock 1979-1993 k-members
- 1987-1993 V8-equipped Mustangs do not require modification because they have a wider front track than all other 1979-1993 Mustangs. The track width is greater because the front control arm mounting holes are located further outboard on these k-members.
- All other 1979-1993 Mustangs require a minor modification to the k-member because their narrower track width causes interference between part of the k-member and the crossbar of the MM front control arms.
See the MM Front Control Arm installation instructions for details on the slight modification required to fit MM control arms to a narrow-track k-member.
Aftermarket K-members
Be alert to possible incompatibility with some aftermarket K-members due to the 3 different offsets available for MM Front Control Arms. See "The 3 Versions" section on the Description tab, and choose the appropriate MM control arm set for your K-member.
Will MM Front Control Arms fit other K-member brands?
All MM Front Control Arms designed for Fox and SN95 Mustangs have the stock bushing length and fore/aft spacing. Therefore, they fit all stock Fox and SN95 K-members, as well as aftermarket K-members that correctly duplicate the stock bushing geometry and spacing. Be alert: MM K-members are not the only ones that move the front control arm mounting points in the fore/aft direction from the stock location.
Can I install a stock location spring on an MM Front Control Arm?
NO! The MM Front Control Arms are lighter than stock Ford control arms because they are designed for use with coil-overs. With coil-overs there is no need for the arm to withstand the large bending load caused by a spring mounted in the middle of the control arm, which allows the arm to be made much lighter.
Can I install aftermarket ball joints in the MM Front Control Arms? Yes. They should be pressed in, using Loctite's green bearing and sleeve retainer. Do not weld the ball joints in place.
