MM Mustang K-Member Braces
MM Mustang K-Member Braces
The k-member is a critical structural part of the Mustang chassis. It mounts the front control arms, the steering rack, and the engine. It takes the loads from the front suspension and passes them on into the unibody.
During hard cornering, the forces from the control arms cause the k-member to deflect. That causes alignment changes, resulting in inconsistent handling.
Deflection is greatly reduced by adding a brace across the k-member, from one side to the other. An MM 4-point brace provides maximum stiffening by connecting both straight across the k-member and back to the rearmost chassis mounting points of the k-member.
Ford equipped 1994-04 V8 Mustangs with a 2-point K-member brace. The MM 4-point braces provide a higher degree of stiffening.
