Why would I want to adjust my Mustang's rear ride height?
The easy answer, appearance, is not the only reason. There are a number of other reasons why adjusting ride height is beneficial, such as improved launching.
- Changing the ride height to make the appearance of your Mustang more to your liking.
- Compensating for added weight, such as heavy sound system components.
- Raising the rear end raises the instant center, increasing the anti-squat percentage, and providing a harder hit to the tire on launch.
- Fine-tuning the ride height (either up or down) to adjust the instant center and therefore the anti-squat percentage, to optimize the launch.
- To weight jack the car when scaling it, to optimize the diagonal weights for best handling.
- To raise the right rear corner, increasing the weight on that tire, therefore improving launching by reducing right rear tire spin.

Why not use the Heavy-Duty control arms in those situations?
For one reason: Those situations may overload the urethane, leading to premature failure of the bushing. When you hit your Mustang's throttle pedal, all of the forces accelerating your car pass from the rear axle housing through the lower control arms and their bushings; that's what moves your Mustang forward. The harder the car accelerates on launch, the greater the forces on the lower control arm bushings. Higher forces lead to a shorter the lifespan of the bushings.

Why do I need MM Rear Lower Control Arms?
- The stock Mustang rear lower control arms are fitted with very large, soft rubber bushings. Those bushings allow the axle to shift fore and aft, as well as skew. Skewing essentially changes the toe of the rear tires. Toe changes cause instability as the rear of the car steers itself in unpredictable directions. The rubber bushings also allow axle wind-up during acceleration, which in turn causes wheel hop.
