Low-friction ball joint for MM Front Control Arms. Reproduction of the now hard-to-find OEM SN95 Mustang low friction design.
Unlike standard replacement ball joints found elsewhere, this new product has the identical outside diameter as the OEM Ford ball joint. That allows easy replacement in the MM Front Control Arm's machined cup.
Standard replacement ball joints are oversized to fit stamped-steel control arms that become distorted from the initial assembly. The ball joint hole becomes enlarged, so an oversized replacement restores proper press fit. MM Front Control Arms have a precisely machined steel tube for the ball joint that does not distort from the press fit. Oversized ball joints will not press in.
- Low-friction design improves handling and ride quality compared to the OEM 1979-1993 ball joint design.
- Commonly available aftermarket replacement ball joints sold at auto parts stores for 1994-2004 Mustangs are not the low-friction design, but are similar to the old Fox Mustang design that has considerable friction.
- Friction in suspension pivots is bad for handling and bad for ride quality.
- Ford's low-friction design was original equipment on all 1994-2004 Mustangs.
