Required: Select among the items described below in Steps 1-3.
Step 1
Select a front spring rate.
- Need help choosing a front spring rate? See the Spring Rate tab for guidance.
Step 2
Select the appropriate MM Caster Camber plate OR select "None."
Step 3 Select an MM 3rd-Gen strut series OR select "None."
Save money! MM's coil-over package price is discounted.
Coil-over Benefits
- Ability to choose from a wide range of spring rates, from very soft to very stiff.
- Improves handling (reduces body roll and quickens steering response) without degrading ride quality because the coil-over spring location improves the motion ratio. This allows a much higher wheel rate than is possible with a stock-location spring.
- Improves ride quality by eliminating the largest source of friction in the front suspension, letting the suspension move freely and thus reducing harshness.
- Provides easy ride height adjustment.
- Reduces unsprung weight, which improves handling and ride quality.
- Allows for easy spring swapping.
- Ride height can be retained after swapping to springs with a different rate.
For help choosing springs, see the MM Guide to Choosing Spring Rates and Dampers.
Features
- Package includes pair of springs at a discounted price.
- Only fits MM 3rd-Gen struts (black housing). This is not an ill-fitting universal kit.
- Needle thrust bearing above the upper spring perch lowers friction, reducing steering effort.
- O-rings seal the needle bearings to prevent contamination.
- Threads are hard-anodized for longevity and easier adjustment of the spring perch.
- No modification to the strut needed for installation.
- Includes an assortment of spacers to ensure proper clearance under the strut tower.
- Lower spring perch has nylon-tipped stainless steel set screws to prevent unwanted rotation.
- Includes this exclusive MM tool to remove a possible interference point on the chassis.
- Includes dustboots.
- Allows you to optimize your Mustang's front bump and droop travel by rearranging the spacers located between the upper spring perch and the camber plate, which adjusts the vertical placement of the strut shaft.
Fits
- MM 3rd-Gen struts for 1979-2004 Mustangs. These have a black powdercoated housing, and are in part number series MMD-FAxxxxx and MMD-FCxxxxx.
Does
NOT fit:
- Bilstein struts
- 1st-Gen MM struts with flat, darker-yellow housing
- 2nd-Gen MM struts with glossy, bright-yellow housing
- Any other manufacturer's strut
Each MM strut series works with spring rates in a particular range. It's best to choose your springs first, and then the damper valving choice falls into place.
How do I choose which springs to use?
In general, choose springs that provide the handling characteristics and ride quality you want from your Mustang. To determine that:
- Decide on the performance goal for your Mustang.
- Consider how you'll use your Mustang most of the time; you should optimize it for that type of driving.
- Consider what level of ride quality you want, and then decide what (if any) compromises you'll make to achieve your performance goal.
For help choosing springs, see the MM Guide to Choosing Spring Rates and Dampers.
Which MM dampers go with which springs?
Choose your springs first. That choice dictates the damper series selection.
See the MM Guide to Choosing Spring Rates and Dampers.
